Description
The Soviet T-62M tank is a modernised version of the T-62. Adopted in the earl 1960s, the tank was already obsolete by the early 1980s. To improve its combat performance, it received reinforced armour on the frontal hull and turret. The T-62M was equipped with anti-cumulative armour screens, a 9K116-2 Sheksna guided weapon system, a KTD-2 laser rangefinder, and a Tucha smoke grenade launcher. It was used in the Afghan War and during the conflicts in Chechnya and Syria. The T-62M remains in service today.
