Description
The Su-25 attack aircraft was developed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau in the 1970s. It was designed for close support of ground forces, engaging small targets at any time of day, and carrying missile and bomb armament. The aircraft’s survivability is ensured by redundancy of most systems, armour protection for vital components, and a reinforced airframe. The aircraft is known for its reliability and ease of piloting. Adopted into service in 1981, it was first used in combat in Afghanistan. The Su-25 remains in service with more than 20 countries nowadays.
