These are plastic model sets that require assembly and painting. They do not contain paints and glues unless otherwise stated.
The Sd.Kfz. 250/3 Ausf.A, famously nicknamed “Greif,” was a specialised command and communications vehicle used by German forces during the early years of the Second World War.
Built on the lightweight Sd.Kfz. 250 half-track chassis, the Ausf.A version featured a distinctive angular hull design and was adapted to carry advanced radio equipment, allowing commanders to maintain contact with rapidly moving units across the battlefield.
“Greif” is most closely associated with General Erwin Rommel, who used this vehicle as a mobile command post during the North African campaign.
Outfitted with multiple radio sets and prominent aerial arrays, it enabled effective coordination of fast-paced armoured operations across the vast desert terrain. Its mobility, combined with reliable off-road performance, made it well suited to reconnaissance and command roles in challenging conditions.
While lightly armoured and not intended for direct combat, the Sd.Kfz. 250/3 Ausf.A played a crucial role in battlefield communication and leadership.
Its association with Rommel and the Afrika Korps has made “Greif” one of the most recognisable command half-tracks of the war, symbolising the importance of speed, coordination, and flexibility in modern armoured warfare.
